Summary and Overall Rating

Dr. Edward L. Whigham Primary Learning Center serves students from PreK through grade two in Miami Gardens. The school has an enrollment of about 250 students with a student–teacher ratio of roughly 12 to 1, providing a small learning environment that supports individualized attention. Academic performance is solid for early grades, with reading and math proficiency levels close to district averages and structured readiness programs for transition to higher grades.

The school follows district policies requiring staff to respect student chosen names and pronouns beginning in PreK, without a parent opt out option. From a traditional or faith-based perspective, the school receives a rating of 3.5 out of 10. While the supportive and focused early childhood environment offers benefits, district identity protocols may raise concerns for families prioritizing traditional values.
