Summary and Overall Rating

E. W. F. Stirrup Elementary serves students from PreK through fifth grade in Miami, with about 520 enrolled and a student to teacher ratio close to 16 to 1. Academic performance is slightly above district levels, with 65 to 70 percent proficiency in math and 60 to 65 percent proficiency in reading. The school maintains a B grade for both equity and overall performance.

District policies require staff to honor student chosen names and pronouns beginning in early grades. Parents are not given the option to opt out of these practices, which are part of Miami–Dade County Public Schools’ system-wide requirements.

From a traditional or faith-based standpoint, E. W. F. Stirrup Elementary receives a rating of 3.5 out of 10. Its reliable academics and community programs are notable strengths, but district-mandated identity policies may present concerns for some families.
